Scientists test Life-Saving breath filter for avalanche victims
NCT ID NCT06895759
Summary
This study tested whether a chemical called soda lime can filter dangerous carbon dioxide from the air when a person breathes into a small, enclosed snow pocket. Researchers had 22 healthy volunteers simulate breathing in a tiny snow air pocket, once with the filter and once without, to see if it kept their oxygen levels safer for longer. The goal is to gather knowledge that could one day lead to devices that extend survival time for people buried in avalanches.
