New surgical technique aims to make dialysis access more reliable

NCT ID NCT06997042

Summary

This study compares two surgical techniques for creating arteriovenous fistulas, which are the preferred type of access for hemodialysis in patients with advanced kidney disease. Researchers want to see if a newer technique called pSLOT leads to fewer complications and better long-term function compared to the traditional method. The trial involves 130 adult patients with kidney disease who need dialysis access, with follow-up assessments at 1 and 12 months after surgery.
