Scientists probe the metabolic link to Autism's mood and memory

NCT ID NCT02733120

Summary

This study aimed to understand how the body's metabolism, particularly of certain amino acids, might be connected to mood and cognitive functions in people with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Researchers compared 40 adults and adolescents with ASD to healthy volunteers, measuring metabolic processes and performing thinking and memory tests. The goal was to gather knowledge that could one day help identify risks and guide future nutritional approaches, but this study itself did not test any treatments.
