Brain scans reveal how autism alters attention to emotions and new information

NCT ID NCT02160119

Summary

This study aimed to understand how the brains of people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) automatically pay attention to emotional information and new changes in their environment. Researchers compared 120 children and adults with ASD to healthy volunteers using brain scans (EEG and MRI) while they viewed or listened to different emotional and neutral stimuli. The goal was to map the brain's responses to better understand the neural basis of attention differences in autism.
