New heart device aims to zap away dangerous irregular heartbeat during surgery

NCT ID NCT06959121

Summary

This study is testing a new surgical tool designed to treat atrial fibrillation (a type of irregular heartbeat) while a patient is already having other open-heart surgery. The device uses electrical pulses to create scar tissue that blocks the faulty electrical signals causing the irregular heartbeat. Researchers will enroll 135 adults to see if the tool is safe and effective at controlling the condition for at least six months after surgery.
