Summary

This study tested a special balloon catheter that uses heat energy to treat atrial fibrillation, a common heart rhythm disorder. Researchers enrolled 397 adults whose symptoms weren't controlled by medications to see if this one-time procedure could safely reduce or eliminate their irregular heartbeats for at least a year. The goal was to provide a treatment option for people who don't respond to drugs.
