New heart procedure may cut AFib relapse after failed treatment

NCT ID NCT04529785

First seen May 15, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study compares two heart ablation techniques for people with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (AFib) that came back after a prior successful vein isolation. One group gets standard isolation of the superior vena cava (SVC), while the other gets that plus ethanol injection into the vein of Marshal. The goal is to see which approach better prevents AFib from returning one year later. About 100 adults who need a repeat ablation will take part.
