Heart procedure showdown: does extra ablation stop AFib better?

NCT ID NCT05296824

Summary

This study looked back at 320 people with a common heart rhythm problem called paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (AFib). It compared two versions of a freezing catheter procedure (cryoballoon ablation). One version isolated just the pulmonary veins, while the other also isolated an extra area of the heart's back wall. The goal was to see which method was better and safer at preventing AFib from coming back over more than three years.
