Cholesterol pill could calm debilitating gut disease

NCT ID NCT07042165

Summary

This study is testing if atorvastatin, a common cholesterol medication, can help control bile acid diarrhea. Researchers believe the drug may work by reducing the body's production of bile acids, which cause symptoms when they overflow into the colon. The trial will involve 20 adult patients with confirmed bile acid diarrhea to see if the treatment reduces their symptoms and lowers a key bile acid marker.
