Study tests if simple checklist can replace uncomfortable heart scan

NCT ID NCT03455673

Summary

This study aimed to confirm if a simple checklist, called the ATE score, could reliably rule out dangerous blood clots in the heart before a common procedure for irregular heartbeat. The goal was to see if this score could safely replace a more invasive and uncomfortable scan for many patients. Over 3,000 adults scheduled for the heart procedure were enrolled to test the score's accuracy.
