New drug aims to halt heart valve narrowing without surgery

Summary
This study tests whether the drug ataciguat can slow the progression of moderate aortic valve stenosis, a condition where the heart's aortic valve becomes narrowed. About 1,276 adults aged 50 and older will receive either ataciguat or a placebo. The main goal is to see if the drug reduces calcium buildup in the valve and improves heart function over 48 weeks.
