First seen Apr 05, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 6 times
Summary
This study tests whether astaxanthin, a natural antioxidant found in algae, can improve lung function and reduce airway inflammation in 25 adults with mild-to-moderate asthma. Participants will take both astaxanthin and a placebo in random order, each for 4 weeks, while researchers also measure their exposure to air pollution. The goal is to see if this supplement can help manage asthma, especially in polluted environments.
