New heart scan contrast agent aims to spot hidden defects

NCT ID NCT06938347

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study tests a new contrast agent called ASI-02 against the standard agitated saline for finding right-to-left shunts—a heart defect where blood flows the wrong way. About 300 adults will each receive both agents during separate ultrasound scans to see which one detects the defect more accurately and safely. The goal is to improve diagnosis without extra risk.
