Simple eye drops may shield cancer patients from painful tear duct damage

NCT ID NCT05999630

Summary

This study is testing whether using artificial tears after radioactive iodine treatment for thyroid cancer can prevent a painful side effect called tear duct blockage. Researchers want to see if washing away radioactive particles from the eyes with these drops reduces inflammation and scarring in the tear ducts over the next two years. The trial will enroll 100 adults who are receiving high-dose radioactive iodine therapy.
