Summary

This study is testing a new type of total artificial heart (the Carmat TAH) for people with severe, irreversible heart failure who are waiting for a heart transplant. The device is meant to keep patients alive and stable until a donor heart becomes available. Researchers will compare outcomes for patients who receive the artificial heart to those who receive standard medical care.
