First seen Apr 09, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 4 times

Summary

This study looks at the sticky layers of bacteria (biofilm) that can form on arterial catheters in intensive care unit (ICU) patients. Researchers will use a special imaging technique to see the structure of the biofilm and identify the germs inside it. The goal is to better understand how these biofilms might cause serious bloodstream infections, so doctors can prevent or treat them more effectively. About 60 ICU patients with arterial catheters will take part.
