Summary

This study tested whether a nine-month, weekly visual arts program could improve self-concept, psychological adjustment, and quality of life in 172 children aged 6–12 from low-income neighborhoods. Children attended one-hour art sessions led by professional artists and participated in community exhibitions. Researchers compared them to a waitlist group to see if the program led to measurable improvements in emotional and social well-being.
