First seen Jan 09, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 18 times
Summary
This study looked at whether adding mental challenges (like counting or memory games) to water-based exercise helps healthy older adults more than water exercise alone. 84 people aged 65+ took part in 12 weeks of either dual-task aquatic therapy or standard aquatic exercise. The dual-task group showed better improvements in balance, mobility, and thinking skills, while the standard group only improved physically. The study suggests that combining mental and physical tasks in water can give extra benefits for seniors.
