Pool workouts boost both body and mind in seniors
NCT ID NCT07270094
Summary
This study tested whether adding mental tasks to water-based exercise provides more benefits than water exercise alone for healthy older adults. 84 participants aged 65+ did twice-weekly pool sessions for 12 weeks, with one group doing exercises combined with thinking tasks like memory games. The group that exercised while doing mental tasks showed improvements in both physical balance and cognitive performance, while the exercise-only group improved only in physical measures.
