First seen Feb 25, 2026 · Last updated May 08, 2026 · Updated 9 times
Summary
This study tests whether a special ventilator mode called APRV helps very obese patients breathe better after heart surgery. 180 adults with a BMI of 40 or higher will be randomly assigned to receive either APRV or standard ventilation after surgery. The goal is to see if APRV improves oxygen levels and reduces breathing problems, potentially shortening ICU stays.
