Surgeons test knot vs clip in common appendix surgery
NCT ID NCT07281612
Summary
This study compared two common ways surgeons tie off the appendix during minimally invasive removal surgery. Researchers randomly assigned 190 patients to have their appendix stump closed with either a hand-tied knot or a plastic clip. The goal was to see which method led to fewer problems like infections or bowel issues in the 15 days after surgery.
