Can a phone app help curb drinking as well as a person?
NCT ID NCT07150156
Summary
This study aims to see if a brief counseling session delivered through a smartphone app is as helpful as a traditional in-person session for people whose drinking may be risky. Researchers in Mexico and South Africa will enroll about 1,200 adults who score high on an alcohol screening test. Participants will be randomly assigned to receive either the app-based or the in-person counseling and will report on their drinking habits over six months to compare results.
