New hope to stop clogged dialysis lines

NCT ID NCT07404345

Summary

This study aims to see if adding a low-dose blood thinner pill (apixaban) to the standard heparin lock solution helps prevent dialysis catheters from getting clogged or failing. It will involve 54 adults on long-term hemodialysis who have a tunneled catheter. Participants will be randomly assigned to receive either the standard heparin lock alone or the heparin lock plus the apixaban pills, and followed for up to 24 months to see which group keeps their catheter working longer without issues.
