First seen Feb 19, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 16 times
Summary
This study tracked 193 adults who had emergency laparoscopic appendix surgery to see how closely hospitals followed a specific fast-recovery plan (called RICA/ERAS). Researchers measured complications, hospital stay length, and whether early discharge within 24 hours was safe and feasible. The study did not change any treatments—it simply observed what happened in routine care.
