New drug aims to tame dangerous mineral in kidney patients

Summary
This study tested a new drug called AP301 to see if it works as well as or better than a standard medication (sevelamer) at controlling high phosphorus levels in the blood of people on long-term dialysis. It involved 474 Chinese adults with chronic kidney disease who were receiving dialysis. Participants took either AP301 or the standard drug for up to a year, with doctors adjusting doses to find the right amount to keep phosphorus in a safe range.
