NCT ID NCT00854698

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study looked at 77 younger patients (under 60) who had a mechanical aortic valve replacement to see if a mismatch between the valve size and their heart affects their exercise ability and heart recovery over the long term. Researchers measured oxygen use during exercise and checked heart structure and function with ultrasound and blood tests. The goal is to understand if valve mismatch matters for long-term health and quality of life.
