Could common antibiotics tame a mysterious inflammatory disease?

NCT ID NCT05291468

Summary

This study is testing whether a combination of two common antibiotics (azithromycin and doxycycline) can help control sarcoidosis, an inflammatory disease that causes lumps called granulomas. It specifically looks at patients whose granulomas contain a common skin bacteria called C. acnes. The goal is to see if reducing this bacteria lowers inflammation and improves lung function and quality of life for these patients.
