Gut bacteria under the microscope: antibiotic study in transplant patients
NCT ID NCT03078010
First seen Mar 11, 2026 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 8 times
Summary
This study looks at how different antibiotics change the community of helpful bacteria in the gut of people who have received a stem cell transplant. These patients often develop fever and low white blood cell counts, requiring antibiotics. The goal is to understand which antibiotics are less harmful to the gut's friendly bacteria, which can help prevent infections and other complications. About 347 adult patients with blood cancers are participating.
