Can a common antibiotic shield kids from chemotherapy danger?

NCT ID NCT07320534

Summary

This study aims to see if giving the antibiotic levofloxacin can help prevent or delay a dangerous condition called febrile neutropenia in children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) during their initial chemotherapy. Researchers will compare the antibiotic to a placebo (a dummy pill) in about 124 children aged 1-18 years. The main goal is to see if the antibiotic helps children stay fever-free longer and reduces serious infections during this critical treatment phase.
