Doctors test direct antibiotic shot to fight dangerous bile infections

NCT ID NCT07407491

Summary

This study is testing if adding antibiotics directly into the blocked bile duct during a standard drainage procedure (ERCP) helps patients with a serious bile duct infection (acute cholangitis) get better faster. All patients receive standard IV antibiotics, but half will also get the antibiotic placed right at the infection site during the procedure. Researchers will measure how quickly symptoms, fever, and lab tests improve, and how long patients stay in the hospital.
