First seen Jan 08, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study looks at whether the usual doses of the antibiotic cefazolin given before weight-loss surgery are strong enough for obese patients. Researchers will measure drug levels in the blood and fat tissue of 70 patients to see if they reach the needed amount to prevent infection. The goal is to find out if current dosing guidelines work well or need to be changed.
