Hospital alert system aims to curb antibiotic overuse
NCT ID NCT07115966
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 23 times
Summary
This study tests a simple computer alert that reminds doctors to re-evaluate antibiotics after 72 hours (or 24 hours for prevention). The goal is to see if this reminder reduces how much and how broad-spectrum antibiotics are used in hospital wards. About 58 hospital units will gradually start using the alert, and researchers will compare antibiotic use before and after. The study does not involve a new drug or treatment, only a change in how doctors are prompted to follow guidelines.
