New monitor may predict dangerous heart reflex during nose surgery

NCT ID NCT07435870

First seen Feb 28, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 13 times

Summary

This study tests whether a device called the Analgesia Nociception Index (ANI) can predict and prevent a sudden drop in heart rate that sometimes happens during nasal septoplasty (surgery to fix a deviated septum). About 90 adults aged 18-60 will be monitored with either standard equipment or the ANI device to see if it helps keep the heart stable. The goal is to improve safety during this common surgery.
