Placebo vs procedure: the battle for chest pain relief
NCT ID NCT05142215
Summary
This study tested whether a specific heart artery procedure (called CTO PCI) could reduce chest pain (angina) more effectively than a placebo procedure in patients already taking the best available medications. Fifty patients with a long-term blockage in a heart artery were randomly assigned to receive either the real procedure or a fake one, and neither they nor their doctors knew which they got. The main goal was to see if the real procedure led to a greater improvement in chest pain symptoms and quality of life.
