Doctors test safer sleep for scary lung scopes

NCT ID NCT07409935

Summary

This study tested if adding a drug called dexmedetomidine to a standard anesthesia drug (propofol) makes rigid bronchoscopy—a procedure to look inside the lungs—safer and more comfortable. Fifty adult patients were randomly assigned to receive either the drug combination or propofol alone. Researchers measured patients' heart rates, blood pressure, recovery time, and whether they remembered anything during the procedure.
