Study tests which anesthesia helps surgeons protect voice nerves

NCT ID NCT07195214

Summary

This study looked at two common anesthesia drugs to see which one helps surgeons better monitor a key nerve during thyroid surgery. The goal was to find out if one drug makes it faster and easier to identify the nerve that controls the voice box, which could improve patient safety. Researchers observed 60 adults having thyroid surgery to compare the effects of dexmedetomidine versus midazolam.
