Doctors test anesthesia timing to protect voice nerves during thyroid surgery
NCT ID NCT05126108
Summary
This study looked at whether patients recover enough from a muscle relaxant used during anesthesia to allow doctors to monitor important voice nerves during thyroid surgery. Researchers followed 50 non-obese adults having thyroid or parathyroid surgery to see if the timing between giving the relaxant and starting nerve monitoring works well. The goal was to help surgeons protect vocal cord nerves while following updated safety guidelines for anesthesia.
