Scientists probe hidden chemical effects of common surgery anesthetics

NCT ID NCT07399223

Summary

This study aims to understand how two commonly used anesthesia gases (sevoflurane and desflurane) affect the body's chemistry during gallbladder surgery. Researchers will enroll 80 patients and analyze blood samples taken during surgery to compare metabolic changes between the two gases. The goal is to gather basic scientific knowledge about how these anesthetics work at a molecular level, not to develop new treatments.
