Scientists probe hidden chemical effects of common surgery anesthetics

NCT ID NCT07399223

Summary

This study aims to understand how two commonly used anesthesia gases (sevoflurane and desflurane) affect the body's chemistry during gallbladder removal surgery. Researchers will compare 80 patients receiving either gas, taking blood samples during surgery to measure changes in amino acids and other metabolic markers. The goal is to identify differences in how these anesthetics affect the body's chemical pathways, which could inform future anesthesia choices.
