Chilling anesthesia masks could soothe your sore throat after surgery

NCT ID NCT06713343

Summary

This study investigated whether storing the breathing masks used during general anesthesia at cooler temperatures could reduce patients' sore throats after surgery. Researchers compared masks stored at room temperature (22-25°C) against those stored chilled (10-12°C) in 172 adults having elective surgery. They tracked throat pain, swallowing difficulty, voice changes, and cough for 24 hours after surgery to see if temperature made a difference.
