New anesthesia approach may prevent dangerous blood pressure drops during emergency surgery

NCT ID NCT06772727

Summary

This study compared two different anesthesia approaches for patients undergoing emergency abdominal surgery. Researchers tested whether using lidocaine-based anesthesia leads to more stable blood pressure than traditional opioid-based anesthesia during the critical induction period. The trial involved 149 adult patients to determine which method better prevents dangerous drops in blood pressure after anesthesia begins.
