New anesthesia drug tested to fight Post-Surgery confusion in elderly

NCT ID NCT06180876

Summary

This study compared two anesthesia drugs to see which one leads to less confusion (postoperative delirium) in older patients after surgery. Researchers tested a newer drug called remimazolam against the commonly used propofol in 264 patients aged 60 and over. The main goal was to measure how often patients experienced delirium in the first three days after their operation.
