This study looked at 154 older adults (60+) having surgery to see if the type of anesthesia affects brain function afterward. One group received intravenous (IV) anesthesia, the other inhaled gas anesthesia. Researchers measured blood-brain barrier changes and checked for confusion or memory problems in the days after surgery.
