Brain monitor upgrade could prevent surgery nightmares

NCT ID NCT07232160

Summary

This study aims to see if adding a detailed brainwave display to a standard anesthesia monitor helps doctors better detect when patients aged 65+ are waking up during surgery. Researchers will observe 70 older patients undergoing certain procedures to compare the two monitoring methods. The goal is to improve detection and potentially reduce the rare but traumatic experience of being aware during an operation.
