New study tests which anal fistula surgery works better

NCT ID NCT07399353

Summary

This study compares two surgical techniques for treating complex anal fistulas—abnormal tunnels near the anus. Researchers want to see which method has a lower chance of the fistula returning and which better preserves bowel control after surgery. Forty adult patients in Egypt will be randomly assigned to receive either the two-step Fistula Rerouting Technique or the single-step LIFT procedure.
