First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 24 times
Summary
This study follows 600 adults who had surgery for an anal fistula (an infected tunnel near the anus) to see how many heal fully within two years and how often the surgery causes problems with bowel control. Researchers will also look at how the type of fistula, patient health, surgical methods, and bacteria affect recovery. The goal is to help doctors choose the best surgical approach to cure the infection while protecting continence.
