Botox added to surgery aims to heal painful anal tears, reduce side effects

NCT ID NCT07268261

Summary

This study is testing a new surgical method to treat chronic anal fissures, which are painful tears that don't heal. Researchers are adding an injection of Botox (botulinum toxin) after the main surgery to relax the anal muscle. They hope this combined approach will help patients heal better, reduce pain, and lower the risk of accidental bowel leakage, a common side effect of current surgeries.
