Heart rhythm procedure vs. pills: which helps heart failure patients breathe easier?

NCT ID NCT04282850

First seen Jan 26, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 15 times

Summary

This study looked at two treatments for people with both atrial fibrillation (an irregular heartbeat) and heart failure with preserved pumping function. One group received a procedure called pulmonary vein isolation (ablation) to fix the heart's electrical signals, while the other group continued with standard medications. The goal was to see which approach better reduced the time spent in atrial fibrillation and improved exercise ability. The study was stopped early after enrolling only 13 participants, so results are limited.
