Amniotic membrane may shield women from painful mesh exposure after pelvic surgery
NCT ID NCT07414849
First seen Feb 21, 2026 · Last updated May 09, 2026 · Updated 10 times
Summary
This study tests whether adding a human amniotic membrane graft to standard mesh surgery can reduce the risk of mesh exposure in women with pelvic organ prolapse or stress urinary incontinence. About 330 women will be randomly assigned to receive either mesh alone or mesh plus the amniotic membrane. The goal is to see if the membrane helps the body accept the mesh better and lowers complications.
