First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 17 times
Summary
This study tests whether giving the heart medication amiodarone for 72 hours to critically ill patients who survived a cardiac arrest with a shockable heart rhythm can lower the chance of death or another severe heart rhythm problem within 30 days. About 674 adults in intensive care will be randomly assigned to receive either amiodarone or a placebo. The goal is to see if this preventive treatment improves outcomes after a cardiac arrest.
